POCKET PULLERS GENERAL RULES
ALL
CLASSES
1.
No alcoholic beverages any drivers drinking alcoholic beverages
before or during a pull event will not be allowed to pull at that event.
2.
Both hands need to be on the steering wheel/throttle at all times for the
ultra lights, V-6 and V-8 classes. Garden
tractors and Stock altered must have one hand on steering wheel at all times.
With having only one hand on steering wheel butt needs to stay in
seat.
3.
All machines must have rear fenders.
4.
All machines must have operating brakes.
5.
Driver must be in control of machine at all times.
6.
All weights listed per class include the weight of the driver (You cannot
be over the allowed weight in any class).
7.
Your machine must meet all safety rules after the first pull.
8.
No tire chains or studs in the tires are allowed in any class or no
liquids in tires at all.
9.
Single rear wheels on all machines (No duals allowed).
10.
No hot rodding or unsafe driving with your machine (This means before and
after pulling too). Any person caught hot rodding the following can happen:
1st offence: Loss
of points and money for that pull
2nd
offence: 3 pull suspension for
driver and tractor
3rd offence:
10 pull suspension consecutive even if it falls into the next year
11.
Any puller is subject to be weighed immediately after completing a pull.
12.
All weights must be securely fastened to the machine. All weight bars need to be horizontal. If you have a vertical weight bar it must be enclosed or
boxed in.
13.
Drivers and machine must be at pull site one hour prior to scheduled
time. If not able to be there
please call a Board Member to register you.
This will make things run smoother.
14.
Driver must be on or with their tractor at the scales in line-up for
their class (if the driver is not on or with their tractor they will be skipped
and not allowed to pull.
15.
Drivers must attend a drivers meeting before every pull.
16.
Every machine can only pull once (2 drivers cannot pull the same machine)
with the exception of the kids class (0-13 h.p. garden tractors).
This class can use the same tractor.
17.
ALL DISPUTES IN WRITING will be settled the same day as disputed but they
will be discussed after the pull is over, not in the middle of the track, so not
to shame the club.
18.
Tech inspectors will have the final say on safety equipment and weights
at the time the machine is weighed in.
19.
The hook person is responsible for the driver and machine to meet all
safety requirements. All protests
to be brought up to the hook person not the driver.
If the hook person overlooks something the driver will not be
disqualified.
20.
If your tractor is broken, it has to be driven out on the track under its
own power, pull the chain tight, start motor, push in clutch, put in gear, and
attempt to pull the sled in order to receive last place points.
Unable to do so, no points will be given.
21.
In order to have a class we need two (2) registered tractors or more to
pull. If less then two (2)
registered you will only get five (5) hook points.
Both tractors need to pull at least one half of the season to get a coat
at the end of the year.
22.
If the first machine makehe sled operator can make the decision to reset
the sled and have the driver re-pull. Drivers
have the option to re-hook immediately or drop to last place and re-pull.
23.
Protest fee for garden tractors is $75.00 and for ultra lights, V-6, V-8
and multi-motor classes is $500.00. Money
must be paid in full up front before tear down occurs.
If it is found that the tractor is legal, the tear down fee goes to the
tractor owner and the protester must pay to have the protested tractor put back
together. This includes parts,
materials and labor at a shop rate of $75.00 per hour with a maximum of 2 hours.
24.
The pull is over when the flagman flags you for safety reasons.
Even in a floating finish.
25.
The driver must be looking at the flagman at all times. No looking down at the track, at the tractor tires or back at
the sled. Failure to do so can
result in disqualification. Drivers
in the youth class will be allowed to glance at the parent or guardian walking
along beside them, but should also remember to look at the flagman.
26.
Pump gases only. No alcohol,
E85, or compressed gases allowed.
27.
Cheating is not permitted. Any
person caught cheating the following can happen:
1st offence: Loss
of points and money for that pull
2nd
offence: 3 pull suspension for
driver and tractor
3rd offence:
10 pull suspension consecutive even if it falls into the next year
The following year will be randomly checked
to see if they meet all requirements.
28.
The use of foul language is not permitted.
Use of foul language can result in the following:
1st offence:
Loss of points for that pull
2nd offence:
3 pull suspension for driver and tractor
3rd offence:
Suspension from the club for the rest of that pulling season
29.
No jumping of classes.
30.
All pullers need to pick a job, register, pull a number, and then pay.
TRACK
RULES
1.
No
Changing weights on your machine on the track unless you stop before the 50/75
foot mark to adjust according.
2.
One
pull per machine unless you are the 1st puller.
3.
Only
one hook in a pull-off (You can not stop before the 50/75 foot mark and restart
in a pull-off).
4.
One
restart will be allowed if sled is stopped before the 50/75 foot mark (This rule
does not apply to a pull-off situation).
5.
Machines
will cross scales and be inspected while lined up, hitch height will be
checked at this time.
6.
If
your tires go over go over the line OR touch the line, you will be disqualified
(You will receive last place points in that class and if 2 people go out of
bounds, you will split last place points).
7.
Anything
falling off the machine will result in a disqualification even if you are the
first puller in the class. This
does not include drive train breakage.
8.
First
puller in each class has the option to turn their first pull down, come back in
third or last position.
9.
No
person is to run down the side of the track when a machine is pulling except
in the Kids class one (1) person will be allowed to walk along side of the
tractor.
10.
If
breakage on your machine occurs before the 50/75 foot mark, you can drop to last
position, and you will have two (2) minutes after last puller to pull.
11.
The
flag people will have the final say at the time of the pull.
One will be at the 75 foot mark and one at the end of the track.
12.
Track
will be 275 foot in length and 20 foot in width. 300 feet when possible.
13.
If
kill switch is pulled at all on track driver is not to touch it at all
the track official will determine the results.
14.
In
a pull off, when a floating finish is being used, when you pass the full pull
mark the tractor still needs to stay within the imaginary white lines or you
will be disqualified.
15.
In
a regular pull if your tractor goes over the full pull mark and the tractor go
out of bounds you will not be disqualified.

1.
Must be 5 years to 9 years old to pull in the Kids 0 13 HP class.
2.
Must be 10 years old to pull in the 0 13 HP class and the Stock Go
Fast class. Must have 2 years
experience to pull in the Stock Go Fast class at 10 years old, other wise needs
to be 11 years old.
3.
Must be 10 years old to pull in the 14 20 HP class. Must have 2 years experience to pull in this class at 10
years old, other wise needs to be 12 years old.
4.
Hitch height: To be no more
than 13 inches off the ground and no more than 18 inches in back from centerline
of the rear axle for all three (3) of the 0 13 HP class.
5.
Hitch must be solid with a 1 3/4 inch opening.
6.
No ball hitches.
7.
Rim size in the 0 13 HP Kids class 12 inches, 0 13 HP Single
Cylinder class 12 inches, 0 13 HP Modified Stock class 12 inches, 14 20
HP class 16 inches, 14 20 HP Twin Cylinder class 16 inches.
Tires must be stock bar and no chevron cut. In the Modified Stock class only you can run a performance
tire or chevron cut.
8.
Must have stationary wheelie-bars and a kill switch. (After the machine
has pulled once). A new comer has a one time chance of this rule.
9.
Weights cannot exceed 7 foot forward of centerline of rear axle, 2 foot
behind centerline of rear axle, and 12 inches outside of rear tires.
10.
All weights must be securely fastened and cannot effect the safe
operation of the tractor or the safety of the driver.
11.
Tractor must be a factory equipped tractor with a factory garden tractor
type rear end. (Positive traction
and welded rear ends are approved).
12.
Carburetors MUST BE FACTORY EQUIPMENT.
Can have an electric fuel pump, but it has to be connected into the kill
switch. 0 13 HP 1 inch
carburetor or less, 0 13 HP
Modified Stock 1 1/16 inch carburetor, 14 20 HP classes no larger than 1 1/4
carburetor. Can run up to 1/2 inch
carburetor spacer if you dont run the stock isolator.
13.
All factory shielding must be in place and around belts. If you do not have factory shielding it needs to be 1/16 inch
thick.
14.
Driver must wear a helmet, long pants and leather work boats 6 inches or
higher and goggles/safety glasses/helmet shields.
Can wear SFI approved fire shoes high top only.
15.
Skid plates or wheels (center of wheels) are to be no less than 5 inches
behind the rear most point of the rear tires and not more than 6 inches off the
ground. Must have a 4 inch square
pad on wheelie bars and bumpers on end are recommended.
16.
Tractors must have a 3 inch back on all seats.
17.
Tractors can have foot pedals, straight pipes, retractable throttle
cables and oversize air breathers, if using straight pipe it needs to be 90
degrees up or straight down. No
velocity stacks.
18.
In the Modified Stock class the tractors must have a steel
flywheel. They will be allowed to
run at 6500 rpms.
19.
In the Stock classes you are allowed to run only 4000 rpms.
This will be checked at the crank.
20.
Fenders must be at least 3 inches over tires.
21.
Tear down of engine consists of checking the bore, see if the valves are
stock, the lift on the cam, if the stroke and piston is flush with the block,
stock electrical system, no Chevy points plates, bore on carburetors, checking
of the head, no crank triggers, coil needs to be factory or factory
equivalent and no automotive high performance coils allowed.
22.
Speed limit for the 0 13 HP Stock Garden Tractor class is 3.8 mph.
ULTRA
LIGHT TRACTORS
1.
Fire
Suits and gloves are mandatory in order to pull, even during test and tune.
2.
Fire
extinguishers are required on all tractors.
They must have a gauge and be full.
3.
Driver
must be 14 years of age to pull in the 0 580 CC class and 16 years of age to
pull in the 581 800 CC class, 801 1200 CC class, and 0 2400 CC
class.
4.
Driver
must wear a helmet, leather work boots 6 inches or higher and eye protection
(goggles/safety glasses or helmet shield) Can wear SFI approves fire shoes
high top only.
5.
Must
have a fully operating kill switch.
6.
All
modified ATVs and Ultra Light Tractors where your legs are out by the wheels
must have a 2 inch restraint shield behind the leg, with the centerline of the
tire to shield the leg.
7.
Must
have stationary wheelie-bars at least 5 inches behind farthest most point of
rear tires and a maximum of 6 inches off the ground. If you do not have steel or aluminum wheels you must have a 4
inch square pads with no sharp edges on wheelie bars and bumper on end are
mandatory.
8.
Must
have 360 degree shields on all coupler or 180 degrees on drive chains.
Shielding needs to be 6 inches wide and at least 1/8th inch
thick steel or aluminum.
9.
Hitch
Height for 0 580 CC, 581 800 CC, and 801 1200 CC classes:
16 inches off the ground no more than 8 inches back from centerline
of rear axle and 1 3/4 inch hole. 0
- 2400 CC class: 13 inches off the ground no more than 10 inches back from
centerline of rear axle and 1 3/4 inch hole.
10.
Tire
size for 0 580 CC, 581 800 CC, and 801 1200 CC classes: 26X12X12
maximum. 0 2400 CC class:
31X15.5X15 maximum.
11.
Weights
on the 0 580 CC, 581 800 CC, and 801 1200 CC classes:
can be no more than 7 feet forward from center of rear axle.
0 2400 CC class: can be
no more than 8 feet forward from center of rear axle.
12.
Exhaust
must be made to point either up or down, NOT to be pointed toward the crowd.
13.
Must
have a motorcycle, ATV, or snowmobile motor - if a snowmobile motor is used, it
must have a 1/8 inch thick steel guard or 1/4 inch aluminum guard 180 degrees
horizontal and completely cover the clutch assembly.
14.
Must
have a shield behind carburetors if they are pointed in the direction of the
driver, shield distance is to be no farther forward then 6 inches from the air
cleaner.
15.
Tractors
can be no more than 72 inches wide at the maximum.
16.
Hand
throttle is acceptable but it must be spring loaded.
17.
NO
double clutching while pulling this can result in a disqualification if you
are caught.
18.
0
2400 CC class must have more than one motor on tractor to pull in this
class.
19.
0
2400 CC class must have a roll bar or roll cage.
20.
No
turbos or blowers allowed in any of the ultra light classes.
V
6 & V 8 Small Block Engine Class
1.
Age
of driver 16 or older with parent or guardian approval if under 18 years old
2.
Engine
can not exceed 275 cubic inches for the V 6 class. Engine can not exceed 375 cubic inches for the V 8
classes.
3.
Headers
must point directly upward.
4.
Tractor
must be equipped with a fire extinguisher that has a gauge on it.
5.
One
four barrel carburetor not to exceed 750 cfm.
No predators or dominators allowed and no fuel injection.
6.
Any
after market or factory heads is acceptable.
7.
Any
after market or factory intake is acceptable.
8.
Tractor
not to exceed 6 feet in width.
9.
Tractor
not to exceed 8 feet in length from centerline of rear axle.
10.
Must
have 4 wheels front tires must track within rear tires.
11.
Hitch
not to exceed 13 inches; hitch may not be connected to wheelie bars.
Must have a 3/8 inch cable that goes over housing and crosses under the
housing and attached to hitching point. Must
have a minimum of 2 clamps on cable.
12.
Tire
size for the V 6 class, can run either 26X12X12 or 31X15.5X15.
Tire size for the V 8 class is limited to 31X15.5X15.
No duals, no chains, and no studs.
13.
Tractor
must have a dead man throttle (spring-loaded) with acceleration in a forward
manner. All foot throttles must
have a toe strap.
14.
No
weights will hang beyond rear most point of rear tires.
15.
All
seats will have a back support of at least 12 inches.
16.
Tractor
must have wheelie bars; bars must extend at least 6 inches behind rear tire and
no more than 6 inches off the ground. Bars
must support the weight of the tractor, must have 4 inch square pad with no
sharp edges on wheelie bars and bumpers on ends are mandatory.
Steel or aluminum wheels are allowed on wheelie bars for the V 6
class only. No wheels allowed on wheelie bars for the V 8 class.
17.
Seat
belts are required. Five (5) point
harness is recommended.
18.
All
moving driveline components must be shielded by 360 degrees and full length of
component with 1/4 inch steel or aluminum.
19.
ROLL
OVER PROTECTION IS REQUIRED!!! It
can be a roll cage that is attached to the frame.
The roll cage needs to be .090 tube.
20.
If
not sitting between the fenders the seat must have some kind of side restraints.
21.
Engine
block must be shielded from the bottom of heads to the bottom of crank throw and
from the front of the block to the back of the block with minimum of .060 steel
or 1/4 inch aluminum.
22.
Fenders
must protect the driver from contact with tires. Fenders MUST be at
least 1/2 the width of the tires.
23.
No
metal fans allowed, electric or plastic can be used.
24.
MUST
HAVE WORKING BRAKES. Brakes on the driveline or on rear wheels
are mandatory.
25.
Driver
must wear helmets, fire suit with gloves, leather work boots 6 inches or higher,
and eye protection is required. Can
wear SFI approved high top fire shoes.
26.
Must
have steel or aluminum flywheel, NO CAST.
27.
Transmission
must have and utilize rear transmission mount or an X brace that will
support transmission in case of breakage.
28.
Must
have SFI approved bell housing or updated SFI approved scatter blanket on all
manual transmissions, with block saver plate.
29.
Automatic
transmissions must have updated SFI approved scatter blanket to cover complete
transmission or you can use a SFI Approved transmission.
30.
Tractors
must have ignition kill switch, must be centered directly above hitch.
31.
Must
have workable reverse light on back of tractor or back up alarm.
32.
Must
have a fluid vibration damper, SFI approved harmonic balancer cover or a SFI
approved balancer.
33.
Engines
may not have aluminum blocks must be original passenger vehicle small blocks.
No aftermarket blocks. No
big blocks.
MODIFIED
V 8 SMALL BLOCK ENGINE CLASS
1.
Age
of driver 16 or older with parent or guardian approval if under 18 years old.
2.
Maximum
tire size can be 18.4X16.1 for naturally aspirated tractors and maximum tire
size can be 31X15.5X15 for Blower tractors.
3.
Headers
must point directly upward.
4.
Engine
can not exceed 375 cubic inches for this class.
5.
Drawbar
to be constructed of 3/4 inch solid steel or hollow tubing with minimum 1/4
inch wall and a 5/16 inch steel safety cable.
6.
Tractor
is required to have a kill switch that interrupts the ignition and electric fuel
pump circuits. Kill switch to be
located 18 inches above the point of hook and within 6 inches of center in any
direction. Kill switch must have a
solid steel or aluminum ring of a minimum 2 inch diameter and 1/8 inch cross
section thickness.
7.
Tractors
equipped with any type of clutch must have a blow proof bell housing having no
non-factory holes. Exception bell
housing may have a clutch maintenance or inspection hole and one inch cooling
hole.
8.
May
be equipped with a block saver plate of 3/16 inch steel of 1/4 inch aluminum.
9.
Use
only steel or aluminum components. No
cast iron components permitted. Components
defined as flywheel, pressure plate, floaters and clutch disc(s).
10.
Automatic
transmissions must have a securely fastened updated SFI or equivalent approved
safety blanket or safety shield covering the transmission.
11.
Tractor
must have positive reverse gear lockout, and neutral safety switch.
The switch must prevent the engine from starting in gear.
12.
Steel
Harmonic Balancers are recommended. If
using factory OEM units, they must be shielded with 5/16 inch steel, 360
degrees. SFI approved balancers or
HUBS or steel do not require shielding. A
bolt is required in the end of the crankshaft to hold the balancer or HUB.
13.
Naturally
aspirated motors can run alcohol, small blower motors can only run pump gas, No
E85, nitro-methane, including nitrous oxide and propylene oxide are not
permitted.
14.
Driver
must wear helmets, sock, fire suit with gloves, and eye protection is required.
Has to wear SFI approved high top fire shoes.
15.
Tractor
must have a roll cage that is the event of a rollover will keep arms and legs
inside the cage, constructed of at least .090 inch material and securely
fastened to the frame and must be able to support the weight of the tractor.
16.
Tractor
must have a SFI five point harness.
17.
Tractor
must be equipped with a fuel shutoff.
18.
Tractor
must be equipped with a fire extinguisher that has a gauge on it.
19.
Tractor
must have wheelie bars; bars must extend at least 6 inches behind rear tire and
no more than 6 inches off the ground. Bars
must support the weight of the tractor, must have 4 inch square pad with no
sharp edges on wheelie bars and bumpers on ends are mandatory.
No wheels allowed on wheelie bars.
20.
Any
after market or factory heads is acceptable.
21.
Any
after market or factory intake is acceptable.
22.
Tractor
not to exceed 6 feet in width.
23.
Tractor
not to exceed 8 feet in length from centerline of rear axle.
24.
Must
